Bean Bag Bed Instructions
Below is information and a instructions on how to maintain the life on your pet’s bean bag bed and ensure it remains in excellent condition.
At Snoozeez Pet Bedz & Accessories we design and manufacture all of our bean bag beds to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) Consumer Product Safety Standard. Attached to the underside of the cover and inner bag, next to the zip, there is a bean bag bed warning label. In addition we have removed all zip handles to ensure they are childproof. Bean bags pose a risk to children such as choking and suffocation of polystyrene beads. The safety standards are designed to make it harder for the bags to be opened. This provides a safer product with all hazards being reduced.
Note: Always keep children away from the hazards of bean bag beds.
How to use the bean bag bed
Simply lay the bed on the required surface where your pet will feel comfortable, such as the lounge, bed or floor. If your pet is unsure about using the bed, place some dry treats or food in the centre of the bed and be patient.
Do NOT rush your pet or throw them onto the bed. This will only scare them and prevent them from feeling safe on their new bed.
Removing the cover
All bean bag beds are double bagged therefore the outer cover can be removed for washing or refilling purposes.
As per the ACCC safety standards as explained earlier, there are no zip handles on either the outer cover or inner bag. To open, simply find a suitable object to stick through the zip and gently slide it in the direction of travel. Please ensure that young children are not around while you do this as they may copy the actions you have taken.
Once the zip on the outer cover is open, pull out the inner bag and remove the outer cover.
Washing the outer cover
Outer covers once removed can be washed in cold water either by hand or placed in the washing machine. It is recommended to wash them on delicate in the washing machine. Remember to close the zip before washing.
Hang the freshly cleaned outer cover on the line to dry.
Washing the inner bag
Inner covers rarely hold hair, dirt or smell like the outer cover. As a result you may not need to wash the inner cover. Therefore you can simply hang the filled inner bag on the line to air out.
If you do need to wash the inner bag it is important to firstly remove the beads. Beads float in water and therefore will not benefit the bag for washing purposes if they remain inside.
The larger beds have a zip on the inner bags so that refilling and washing is possible. Small size beds do not have this second zip option.
Use a large garbage bag or several smaller ones to empty the beads into. It is recommended to do this slowly to ensure the beads do not fall out onto the floor.
Once emptied wash the inner bag in cold water either by hand or place in the washing machine. It is recommended to wash them on delicate in the washing machine. Remember to close the zip before washing.
Hang the freshly cleaned inner bag on the line to dry.
Reassembling the bed
Once dry slowly place the beads back into the inner bag (if the option for emptying was used) by tipping up the beads and slowly filling the inner bag. It is easier to do this with two people.
Once filled put the inner bag into the outer cover. You may need to move it around until the desired fit is achieved. Fluff up the bed to regain its shape and place back into the desired position.
Topping up the beads
If you need to top up the beads because they have gone flat you can purchase a small bag of beads from local department stores such as Target. Take out the inner bag from the bed and open the zip only a small way across. Cut a small section of the corner of the new bag of beads and tip up. Hold just above the new corner opening to slowly release into the inner bag. Fill to a maximum height of 5cm above the half way mark. Any more than this and the bed will be overfilled and out of shape.
To get the last few beads out of the new bag you can place the whole bag inside and shake it out. It is easier to fill up the inner bag with two people. Once filled, put the inner bag into the outer cover. You may need to move it around until the desired fit is achieved. Fluff up the bed to regain its shape and place back into the desired position.
Pets love the Snoozeez bean bag bed range and we strongly believe you will too. With a little practice you will no doubt perfect the emptying, washing and filling of your pets new bean bag bed.
